In addition to the fascinating history and the ancient ruins, this trail offers great views and a visit to a historic small cave with a spring hidden behind a church. Perivolos - Perissa
Perissa and Perivolos, known as Santorini’s largest black sand beach, have deep sparkling waters and are covered in black lava sand. The beach is well-organized with copious amounts of lounge chairs, umbrellas, water sports, seaside cafes, restaurants and beach bars.
Kamari
Kamari is a lot like Perissa, Perivolos. Similar waters, black lava sand with few larger pebbles, organized with sun beds and umbrellas, offers all along a pedestrian walk with cafes and restaurants in a family friendly environment. Over Kamari at a height of 360 meters you can visit an ancient city, called “Ancient Thira”.
Red Beach
Red Beach is enclosed by steep red hills that create a captivating, wild scenery. Visitors will have to walk about 5 minutes downhill on a rocky path to reach the beach. From there you can go to Kambia Beach, White Beach and Mesa Pigadia by boat, White Beach is only accessible by boat and is another distinguishing beach. It is white pebbled surrounded by white towering cliffs that form a beautiful, small cove. Kambia Beach & Mesa Pigadia can also be accessed by car through two different drives on dirt roads and you can find a local tavern on both these beaches.
Vlychada
Vlyhada stands out for the overwhelming carved cliffs that resemble a sculptor’s work but is, in fact, a natural process owed to the volcano, the wind and the sea. It is a lengthy beach with relatively shallow waters and dark volcanic sand and pebbles. The Sailing and Yachting Center is also found in Vlychada, in the small charming port close to the beach. Additionally, you can visit the Tomato Industrial Museum, a former tomato factory, and enjoy a guided tour concerning the traditional methods of cultivation and production of the tomato, a well-known product of Santorini.
Koloumbos
Koloumbos Beach framed by a dramatic cliff is secluded and located on the north east coast of Santorini. You have to park your vehicle on the street and then follow a narrow path that leads to the beach. Caldera Beach Caldera Beach located in Akrotiri, as its name suggests, it’s one of the few beaches on the island that are actually on the caldera coast with great views of the caldera, the volcano islands, the towns of Fira, Imerovigli, Firostefani and Oia.

VILLAGES

Fira
Fira is the main city of Santorini. An ideal place to start exploring, built on the edge of the cliff, located in the middle of the island, where you can find everything you are looking for. The main bus and Taxi station is also located here, a wide variety of shops, fine dining restaurants with caldera views, street food, cafes and the island’s buzzing nightlife. Below Fira lies the old port, you can get there by cable car.
Firostefani
Firostefani is just 15 minutes from Fira, a highly recommended walk with beautiful views. Smaller in size and positioned higher than Fira offers magnificent views in a more relaxed environment with lesser shops and restaurants. ‘The 3 bells’ a popular sight in Santorini, is located here.
Imerovigli
Imerovigli, also known as “The balcony to the Aegean” is built on the highest point of the caldera cliffs, about 300 meters above sea level. The rock of Skaros in Imerovigli was the capital of Santorini until the 18th century AD. There was built a Venetian castle which was abandoned after continuous earthquakes. Due to the high altitude and the wild beauty of Skaros, the views are spectacular.
Oia
Οιa, also known amongst locals as "ApanoMeria '' is the jewel of Santorini. This is probably the most beautiful village of Santorini and is a very popular destination. The colorful houses dropping down the cliff, the picturesque without many steps’ pedestrian street and of course the magnificent views make it an idyllic destination. Especially around sunset Oia is flooded with people. Below Oia lies the charming, small port of Ammoudi, filled with fish tavernas. And just around the corner a church built on a rock in the water, an ideal place for jumping in the sea.
Pyrgos
Pyrgos, the highest village of Santorini, provides unique panoramic views of both sides of the island, from its Venetian Kasteli at the top. Stroll around uphill and downhill alleys, discover local shops and end a beautiful walk at the traditional cafes on the main square of the village. Don’t miss ProfitisIlias, the highest point of the island, where you get 360° views of the island.
Megalochori
Megalochori is a picturesque traditional village with historical whitewashed houses, a church with a blue dome and a bell tower at the village’s south entrance and a wonderful traditional square with taverns and trees providing shade.
Emporio
Kasteli of Emborio is a labyrinth of narrow winding streets with beautiful old houses and historic churches. Its old castle is of Santorini’s best hidden gems, it was initially created around 1450 AD, to protect the inhabitants from pirate raids. Travel in time by wandering around this quiet neighborhood.
Akrotiri
Akrotiri is a small village on the southwest coast of Santorini with a 13th century tower, known for its archaeological site, the island’s lighthouse and unique hidden beaches.
Finikia
Finikia is a charming settlement located next to the famous village of Oia. The village is small, quiet, stands out for its colorful buildings and overlooks green vineyards. Few restaurants can be found here.
